On May 4th, the highly anticipated women's doubles round of 16 at the 2026 "Jiujiang State Control Cup" Jiangxi (Jiujiang) Open Tennis Tournament is about to take place. Chinese duo Hou Yanan/Zhu Chenting will face fourth seeded Alexandra Osborne/Zheng Wushuang in a fierce battle for the quarterfinals.
The special significance of this match is self-evident - both Zhu Chenting and Zheng Wushuang are local players from Jiujiang, and they just finished their match on the singles court yesterday. Tomorrow, they will face each other across the net on the doubles court. A back-to-back derby with regional sentiment and tactical continuity has skyrocketed the attention of this first round match.

Zhu Chenting: The rising star of the post-07 generation born in Wuning
Zhu Chenting, born in Jiujiang, Jiangxi in 2007, is the most popular young player in the local team of this year's Jiangwang tournament. She started learning tennis at the age of 4, and at the age of 12, she came to Wuning International Tennis Center for training and officially signed a contract. In this "National Tennis Demonstration County" awarded by the General Administration of Sport of China, she received systematic and professional enlightenment and polishing.
Zhu Chenting's growth trajectory is remarkable: in July 2025, she won her first career title with a seven game winning record at the ITF W15 Ma'anshan Station, becoming China's first "post-07" ITF adult singles champion. In October 2025, she participated in the Jiangxi (Jiujiang) Tennis Open with a wild card, making her debut in the main tournament of the WTA Tour. Her world ranking once became the highest among Chinese players born in 2007. In November 2025, she represented the Jiangxi Provincial Tennis Team in the 15th National Games and contributed to the Jiangxi team by defeating Zhejiang player Zou Ruirui 2-0 in the youth group women's team competition. In January 2026, Zhu Chenting was commended by the People's Government of Jiangxi Province for his outstanding performance at the National Games. In March 2026, after breaking through the qualifying round at ITF W35 Monastir station, she swept the second seeded Naha Mana with a score of 6-4, 6-0, ranking 222nd. On May 3, 2026, in the first round of the Jiangwang WTA Women's Singles Qualification Tournament, Zhu Chenting defeated her opponents in straight sets 6-0 and 6-2, demonstrating excellent competitive form. Now, this 18-year-old girl from Jiujiang is stepping steadily from her hometown arena to a broader professional stage.
In this doubles match, Zhu Chenting teamed up with Hou Yanan in the doubles after yesterday's singles match. Her bottom line offensive firepower is outstanding, with a strong and heavy forehand attack, precise control of the serve landing point, and multiple direct scoring through high-quality serve, which can open up an offensive situation for the combination. Partner Hou Yanan is known for his online skills, decisive interception, and timely positioning. Recently, their cooperation has become increasingly seamless, and their playing style is proactive and fearless in the face of seed combinations.

Zheng Wushuang: The 'Big Sister' Who Walks from Jiujiang to the World
Zheng Wushuang, born on November 29, 1998 in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, is a well-known Jiangxi female tennis player in China. She is currently studying sports training at the School of Physical Education, Nanchang University.
Her tennis experience is solid and impressive: during her teenage years, Zheng Wushuang reached the finals of various competitions 22 times, winning 8 championships, and once studied under coach Fan Wentao. In 2014, she won the French Open Junior Wild Card Championship and thus entered the Junior Championship. In the professional arena, she has reached the adult finals 12 times and won 8 championships. 2022 was her breakthrough year - she won the women's singles championship at the Kunming Open and also won the singles annual championship at the professional level finals of the China Tennis Tour. In the same year, she was selected for the Paris Olympics preparation list based on her stable performance.
In 2023, she represented China in the 31st Summer Universiade and won a silver medal in the women's team event for the country. In 2024, she partnered with South Korean player Zhang Xiuzhen at the WTA125 Jinan Station and achieved excellent results as the runner up in doubles. In 2025, she reached the finals of the WTA Nubu ri Station and climbed to 290th place in the world ranking, setting a new personal career point record. In April of the same year, Zheng Wushuang, along with five Jiangxi athletes including Hou Yanan and Zhu Chenting, jointly obtained admission tickets to the final of the 15th National Games and represented Jiangxi in the competition. In April 2026, in the first round of the women's singles at this year's Jiangwang WTA, Zheng Wu fought fiercely for 2 hours and 4 minutes, defeating Ukrainian player Starodubceva 6-3, 7-6 (5), achieving her first career WTA Tour singles victory and rising to 282nd place in real-time ranking.
In this doubles match, Zheng Wushuang and her partner Osborne formed the fourth seeded strong team. Osborne is skilled in front of the internet and exudes a strong sense of pressure on the field; Zheng Wushuang is known for her solid ability to balance the bottom line, with high stability in both forehand and backhand, wide range of running, outstanding defensive resilience, and proficiency in mobilizing opponents through multiple rounds, creating offensive opportunities for her net partners. The two of them have clear division of attack and defense, and their cooperation is mature and tacit, making them strong competitors in this women's doubles event.
Jiujiang Shuangshu, long-distance love across the internet
This match is not only the first professional competition between two pairs, but also a hometown dialogue between two local players from Jiujiang.
They have a similar background of growth - they are all children who started from Jiujiang and grew up on this red soil. Zheng Wushuang, a senior student majoring in sports training at Nanchang University, has gone further in the professional arena, won more championships, and seen a bigger world; Zhu Chenting, a leader trained by Wuning International Tennis Center, is still in the rising stage of his career and is using his powerful arms to forge his own path.
Yesterday on the singles court, the two had already faced each other and had a preliminary understanding of each other's hitting rhythm and technical characteristics, which also made the tactical game of this doubles match more exciting. Viewers from their hometown will witness on the same stage - one side is the daring local newcomer Zhu Chenting, and the other side is the strong seed duo Zheng Wushuang.
The cross net confrontation between two girls from Jiujiang gave this game a special emotional and regional significance. No matter what the outcome is, the applause from their hometown when they stand on the Nine Body Central Court belongs to every tennis daughter nurtured by this soil and water.
